Hello and thanks for visiting Communities Together website!
Communities Together was created as a response to the needs of BELLSHILL, MOSSEND & THORNIEWOOD Areas in North Lanarkshire against the backdrop of Coronavirus. It began an umbrella group that pulled together the community response to COVID-19 and providing care packages to the most vulnerable in the area. As we navigate our way out the pandemic, Communities Together continues to operate offering a Food Bank from the YMCA building in Main Street, Bellshill as it is a much need service in the community. Alongside the Food Bank, Communities Together signposts clients to the correct agencies that can help and offer advice and invites external groups such as the Mosshill Credit Union and Recovery North Lanarkshire to host drop-in sessions on a weekly basis providing further help, advice and support.
Communities Together operates out of the Bellshill YMCA (294 Main Street, Bellshill, ML4 1AB), preparing food parcels and other essentials for collection by those who need it in the Bellshill, Mossend and Thorniewood communities. Communities Together seeks to help individuals and families who may need support for a variety of reasons and get them the help and support they need. We know times have been tough for so many through the pandemic and unfortunately this trend is set to continue as the cost of living continues to rise.
The group involved represent a number of community councils, community groups, NHS, Council Employees and Elected Members, and individuals who live in Bellshill and surrounding communities. The YMCA has pledged to continue to operate Communities Together post-covid.
Please, if you can, support us by donating non-perishable foods and toiletries, volunteering your time or making a cash donation.
Thank You!

Thank you to Bellshill & Mossend YMCA who have donated their building for us to use as a place where care packages can be received and issued, and volunteers can be trained and utilised in the best way we can. They have continued to run and staff Communities Together following the lockdowns and the lifting of restrictions after identifying the need in our community for this valuable service to continue.
